How to Save Money on Shoes

How to Save Money on Shoes

For many women, there's nothing more exciting than a new pair of shoes. One of the greatest excuses to buy shoes is that you don't already have a pair in that color, or that style, or that heel height. But all those new shoes can really put a dent in your budget. Saving money on shoes requires a little self-control, but it is possible.

Step
1

Buy classic styles. Resist the temptation to buy the latest style in shoes if you want to save money. They may look great today, but in a couple months, you won't want to wear them anymore. If you stick with classic styles, your shoes will last longer because they won't go out of fashion.

Stick with neutral colors. Those fuchsia sandals are adorable, but you'll have to buy a new outfit to go with them. And if you buy the fuchsia sandals, you'll still need shoes to go with all of your other clothes. So just buy the basics.

Step
3

Shop at the end of the season. Instead of rushing out for the latest spring styles in April, hold out until September. You'll be able to purchase those same shoes for half the price. Buy them and save them until next April. When you pull them out of the closet, you'll have new shoes for spring.

Take care. To save money on shoes, you have to make them last for several seasons. Buy good-quality shoes so that they can be repaired or refurbished. Develop a relationship with your local cobbler and make it a habit to bring your shoes in once a year for a checkup.
